What to do?

Enjoy a day of relaxation

The city of Ras Al Khaimah is completely different to neighbouring Dubai. Whereas the latter has that famous skyline and hundreds of projects under construction, Ras Al Khaimah still has beautiful old Arabic charm about it, with its many towers and ancient architecture. There are many top-class hotels in RAK, such as the Hilton Ras Al Khaimah; Khatt Springs Hotel and Spa (sister to the Al Hamra); Bin Majid Beach Hotel; and Ras Al Khaimah Hotel, which are built to exacting standards and are the perfect playgrounds for a trip to the sun.

Walk around the desert
Another 'must-see' is the desert. The hotels offer a desert safari trip in a 4x4, where you will be taken out in a jeep, tearing through the dunes at high speeds and stopping every now and then to take a couple of snap shots of the spectacular scenery.
Then you will be taken to the camel farm, where you will be surrounded by the humpback creatures, and let me tell you, they are no strangers to the camera.
Getting back into the vehicle, the jeep will drive you to an elevated spot from where you can watch an explosion of glowing orange and yellow -- a beautiful and glorious sunset. After witnessing that, it gets better still, with a drive to the campsite, where a barbecue awaits you. There is also henna painting and a belly dancer.
So overall, the trip to the desert comes highly recommended.

Mountain trip

Pass through the golden desert and different Wadis to reach the other side of the mountains. Several old villages will be covered en route where village folks, tucked away from modern life, live in isolation. Gaze in wonder at the sunset on top of the mountains, watching its colors scatter in the sky. Trek around on the mountain top, where silence and the wind is your only companion.

Eco-tourism tours

Ras Al Khaimah, with its truly stunning landscapes, has plenty to offer for hiking enthusiasts- areas of great scenic beauty, yet uncrowded and unpolluted. These treks respect the environment and local population.

The environment friendly camp is committed to the use of renewable resources such as solar energy, comprehensive recycling of organic waste, nature friendly waste disposal, the use of local environment friendly transportation such as donkeys and promotes environmental education.

Musandam Pearl Route : Discover the abandoned villages that travellers crossed on this rough and rocky trail. Roam around the barren fields that once carried entire communities, climb peaks above which sharp-eyed buzzards still glide, quietly stalking their prey below. Lunch will be served at the Mountain Extreme camp.

Walk in the Clouds : Discover the tallest peak in the Musandam. The hike is programmed to arrive a day before at Mountain Extreme camp to build up energy reserves. The hikers will head off to the summit of Jebel Qihwi the next day, after breakfast.

Lost Villages : Trek to the vastness of the Wadi Bih, away from other hikers and habitations. Climb a summit, explore the canyon, camp on the edge of the precipice and scramble down a route that will never see crowds.
